Distinguish the report from the statement

ITAC report 778 is dated 6 July 2026. The statement of 18 September announces implementation by SARS and describes coordination with safeguard measures to avoid a double remedy. These documents serve different purposes: an investigation report and an implementation announcement.

The report covers certain aluminium-zinc-coated or zinc-coated flat products, with criteria relating to width, thickness and tariff classification. Its scope cannot be extended to all steel products on the basis of their country of origin alone.

Match documents to a product reference

Prepare a product sheet bringing together use, material, coating type, dimensions and form of delivery. Add the actual manufacturer, exporter and available origin documents. A coil photograph helps identify the batch but must be accompanied by these characteristics.

Send the same product sheet to every party consulted. If a response uses a different description or relies on another tariff heading, ask why. Comparison becomes more useful when the documents explicitly refer to the same product.

Track changes through to shipment

It must be possible to cross-reference the sample, order and shipping documents. Record changes of manufacturer, dimensions or finish as the project progresses, then ask whether a new customs assessment is needed. Keep the response with the corresponding technical version.

Maison Brach organises this follow-up and the discussions relevant to the project. Before the goods leave, a final cross-check of product references helps identify a substitution or missing document and have the issue addressed by the appropriate specialist.
